The upgrade installation will not do anything to your existing filestore OSDs. It will just allow new OSDs that you add later to be using bluestore. It will also allow existing filestore OSDs to use an SSD caching device. Most Ceph users plan to install Luminous then for existing OSDs, remove them one by one and add replacement bluestore based OSDs and so let Ceph recreate the replicas on the new OSDs via its regular recovery process.
Do you think for new OSDs you would still want the option to create filestore ? I find most Ceph users very eager to use bluestore as soon as it is out. What do you think ?
