Sizing for ObjectStorage

Hi, are there any rules o guide to understand how is the correct hardware sizing for an ObjectStorage system?

The need is realize a repository for remote backup vault and for nas offloading.

Thanks in advantage

Dario.

for disk sizing: a 4+2 ec profile will has 1.5 storage overhead. 1 TB stored data will consume 1.5 TB

Hello Dario.

First, evaluate your required total space; if you need 100Tbytes, with EC profile suggested (4+2), you will need a total of 150 Tbyte disk size, but with Ceph you will reach a "nearly full osd" with 80%. So, to store 100Tbyte, you need 200Tbyte.
With 4+2 profile, you need not less than 6 hosts; depending on client number, is better to increase the hosts. So, for example, you can have 6 hosts with 6 x 6Tbyte drives (and, of course, one raid-1 volume for system), and not less than 2 x 10Gbit ethernet interface (for ceph).

This is only an example, exact sizing depends on usage.

Ok thanks, but this is only a sizing relative to the disk space.
When I speak with representatives of market solutions, they also provide me with a sizing in terms of CPU and RAM in relation to the number of files, their size and type of use.
Where can I find this information to properly size the 6 servers in the previous example?

we have a hardware recommendation guide
