To safely secure NFS based on user/groups NFS 4 Kerberos authentication is needed. We do not have plans yet to support this until this gets wider deployment.
PetaSAN only supports NFS 3 IP/hostname security.
We do not support NFS 3 AUTH_SYS security which relies on NFS clients to send their user/group ids, which is not very secure. Any client with local ids matching ids on the files will be able to access them.
