we are setting up our first petasan cluster...btw. a great project.... the plan is to have 2 system disks as raid 1 (mirroring) for redundancy.
we have not seen an option to create a software raid at installation time is there any other way to workaround this?
btw. the mainboard provides also an INTEL "fake raid" controller but if we try to use this we still see the 2 boot SSDs.
thanks

In 2.8 is there any way to use software RAID (either Linux software RAID or Intel fake raid) for the system drive?

If you need RAID for OS, you have to use hardware RAID now. Note it is not crucial to have redundancy in host OS disk as the system is highly available from a cluster level.

September 8, 2021, 7:51 amQuote from admin on September 8, 2021, 7:51 amThe recommended process:
- For the first 3 nodes: install OS then deploy with "Replace Management Node"
- For nodes 4 and above: install OS, join cluster, in the OSD list do not re-add the existing OSD disks else they will be reformatted as new OSDs (there is an "info" paragraph on the page that says this), just leave old OSDs as is and they will be used deployment completes.
In coming 2.9 we now have a "Replace Node" to deal with both cases to make second case clearer. The existing replace focused on Management nodes only as it requires more automation.
