Unsupported Controller ?

Hello,

are the HP P400 and HP P800 Raid controller unsupported ?

Best regards

Some of the older smart array controllers use an old cciss driver which does not map the drives to SCSI devices, we do not support these. Many distros like RH/Centos 7 do not support cciss.
We support contollers which use the newer HP driver hpsa

for a list of controllers and which drivers they support, please see:
http://cciss.sourceforge.net/

The P400 and P800 show they are supported bu cciss only.
Some users were able to run hpsa fine on older controllers by adding the following boot options to /boot/extlinux/extlinux.conf:

cciss.blacklist=yes modprobe.blacklist=cciss hpsa.hpsa_allow_any=1 hpsa.hpsa_simple_mode=1

but this is may not work in all cases and is not officially recommended.

you can know which driver is loaded via

lspci -v
