vSphere 6.7 U3 Unmap

Hi guys,

i tested 3 node setup.

i see all Advanced Options are activ on Vmware Side.  But the "Delete Status"  give me unsupported

VAAI Plugin Name:
ATS Status: supported
Clone Status: supported
Zero Status: supported
Delete Status: unsupported
esxcfg-advcfg -g /VMFS3/EnableBlockDelete

Value of EnableBlockDelete is 1
so i moved bit around . i have 2 little vms on the Volume.  and Ceph tells me 18GB used.  but the vms each have only about 3G used space.

the ceph iscsi disk is a thick volume per default seems.   the vmdk's are thin.

esxcli storage vmfs unmap -l LAB-CEPH-ISCSI01
Devices backing volume 5d4add00-cdca1c42-f86f-40f2e90a151c do not support UNMAP

on all 3 nodes i checked.

cat /opt/petasan/config/tuning/current/lio_tunings |grep emulate_tpu
"emulate_tpu": 1,

Do i miss something here?

thx

Max

Hi admin,

thx for info.  but not sure if this helps.

as i'am alerting > it's related to 6.7 U3 (14320388).  it seems Delete Status is not supported anymore.  or there is extra Settings which i'am not aware of.

Delete Status: unsupported

VAAI is fully activ on the Hosts

thx

Max

Thanks for the clarification. We are testing with 6.7 u2 + we used to test older versions too and had no issue. maybe it is something new in vmware or maybe a bug, will see 🙂

Hi guys,

any news for it?  as it's not working with U3

thx

Max

we are busy getting 2.4 final testing, give us a couple of days and we will be testing u3.

It is working in 6.7 U3 (14320388)

very strange.   i didn't got any supported Status, as pasted above.  U2 worked.  U3  didn't worked anymore for me. may there is an Kinda Issue once PetaSAN is virtualized. Will re/check with 2.4 once you released it 😉
