I installed PetaSAN on my 3 brand new nodes, now I'm creating the cluster but I see only eth0 and eth1 (1 GbE ports), while my other 2x 10 GbE ports (SFP+) are not displayed, they are separate Asus PCI-E card on the expansion slots. What can I do to make them appear visible ? In my intentions the 1 GbE ports are for management and backend, while the 10 GbE are for iSCSI on our storage VLAN.
Thanks and bye, Ste.

lspci -v
do they show up in:
ls /sys/class/net
Can you grep dmesg output for any messages relating to Asus or any errors loading firmware ?
Can you search online to see what linux drivers/modules are required to support these cards ?

root> apt install build-essential
I downloaded the source code (petasan-2.4.0-src.tar.gz) and the driver file (20190605_Linux_ver_2.2.6.0.178.zip), but where I have to extract the petasan source code exactly ? I'm working on a newly installed Petasan 2.4 node. Thanks for any hint.

January 14, 2020, 5:13 pmQuote from Ste on January 14, 2020, 5:13 pmWell, I extracted the content of the "kernel-rpm-4.12.14-197.18.tar.gz" archive into /lib/modules/4.12.14-27-petasan/build/ directory (because the driver Makefile looks for this dir). On the first make attempt I got the following error:
ERROR: Kernel configuration is invalid.
include/generated/autoconf.h or include/config/auto.conf are missing.
Run 'make oldconfig && make prepare' on kernel src to fix it.
So i issued the command "make oldconfig && make prepare", I had to answer to hundreds of questions, it took me almost one hour to try to understand them all, then I issued again "make" in the driver source dir and now I'm stuck at this point:
root@petasan03:~/Linux# make

include/generated/autoconf.h or include/config/auto.conf are missing.

Quote from Ste on January 13, 2020, 4:42 pmHello,
I installed PetaSAN on my 3 brand new nodes, now I'm creating the cluster but I see only eth0 and eth1 (1 GbE ports), while my other 2x 10 GbE ports (SFP+) are not displayed, they are separate Asus PCI-E card on the expansion slots. What can I do to make them appear visible ? In my intentions the 1 GbE ports are for management and backend, while the 10 GbE are for iSCSI on our storage VLAN.
Thanks and bye, Ste.

Quote from admin on January 13, 2020, 5:02 pmDo you see the card via:
lspci -v
do they show up in:
ls /sys/class/net
Can you grep dmesg output for any messages relating to Asus or any errors loading firmware ?
Can you search online to see what linux drivers/modules are required to support these cards ?

If you to compile it yourself, you can do so from our source code.

Quote from Ste on January 14, 2020, 4:38 pmOk, I want to try to compile the drivers. I installed all the tools with
root> apt install build-essential
I downloaded the source code (petasan-2.4.0-src.tar.gz) and the driver file (20190605_Linux_ver_2.2.6.0.178.zip), but where I have to extract the petasan source code exactly ? I'm working on a newly installed Petasan 2.4 node. Thanks for any hint.

Quote from Ste on January 14, 2020, 5:13 pmWell, I extracted the content of the "kernel-rpm-4.12.14-197.18.tar.gz" archive into /lib/modules/4.12.14-27-petasan/build/ directory (because the driver Makefile looks for this dir). On the first make attempt I got the following error:
ERROR: Kernel configuration is invalid.
include/generated/autoconf.h or include/config/auto.conf are missing.
Run 'make oldconfig && make prepare' on kernel src to fix it.So i issued the command "make oldconfig && make prepare", I had to answer to hundreds of questions, it took me almost one hour to try to understand them all, then I issued again "make" in the driver source dir and now I'm stuck at this point:
root@petasan03:~/Linux# make

root@petasan03:~/Linux#Please can you give me detailed instructions on how to compile those drivers ? Thanks a lot !
Well, I extracted the content of the "kernel-rpm-4.12.14-197.18.tar.gz" archive into /lib/modules/4.12.14-27-petasan/build/ directory (because the driver Makefile looks for this dir). On the first make attempt I got the following error:
ERROR: Kernel configuration is invalid.
include/generated/autoconf.h or include/config/auto.conf are missing.
Run 'make oldconfig && make prepare' on kernel src to fix it.
So i issued the command "make oldconfig && make prepare", I had to answer to hundreds of questions, it took me almost one hour to try to understand them all, then I issued again "make" in the driver source dir and now I'm stuck at this point:
root@petasan03:~/Linux# make
make -j4 CC=cc -C /lib/modules/4.12.14-27-petasan/build M=/root/Linux modules
make[1]: Entering directory '/lib/modules/4.12.14-27-petasan/build'WARNING: Symbol version dump ./Module.symvers

Thanks and bye.
