Replace failed drive

Pages: 1 2

Hello all,

There's a lot of different processes in replacing a failed drive, is there any documents on a step by step way to replace a failed drive?

Got a message that osd.9/node-1 has failed.

Went to the server and had a flashing yellow light on the drive and the system status showed a failure on the server.

Running Petasan version 2.3.1

Unable to get a physical disk list from GUI on this node, can on the other nodes.

What is the best way to replace the drive?

Thanks,

to remove the old OSD, pyhsically remove the disk then delete it from ui.

to add another OSD, add a new disk and add physical disk then add OSD from ui

Sorry, don't see a screen to do this with.  I'm on version 2.3.1.

Node List ->  Physical Disks

Hello,

I'm there but unable to get a screen, I'm seeing a rotating "star" that does not do anything so unable to select anything.  This happens on the node that has the bad disk and when using the interface from other nodes.  It will go into the screen if choosing another nodes, just not the node that is down.  Can't manage if I can't get to the items to select.

So either I need to get the screen to behave or do this manually.

Appreciate the help.

have you removed the bad disk first ? there could be a list issue with 2.3.1 if there was defective disk, upgrading should fix the list issue, else remove it first.

I'll remove the disk when we receive the new replacement.

So I'll just put the new disk in and it should rebuild?

after you physically add the disk, you will use the ui to add it as an OSD.

Hello,

That's the issue, no UI.  How do I add it through CLI?

Question, can I upgrade the Node to 2.6 while we have a bad disk?

If you remove the defective disks, the ui will work correct ?

You can upgrade to 2.6, we recommend the cluster status is Ok
