I am building a ceph cluster and have
5 identical servers
12x6tb hdds
Question:
If I start with 3 nodes with 4x6tb drives I will have 24tb available space using 3 replica?
If I deploy 5 nodes with 2x6tb drives each I would have 36tb available using 3 replica?
With 5 nodes I would have 2 unused drives until I get 3 more 6tb drives to even out the cluster at Wich time I would have 54tb usable using 3 replica?
Is my math correct?
Any recommendations like 3 node vs 5 node?
Thanks
Ray

Yes

No. Your raw storage os 5 x2x6 TB = 60 TB. available with 3x replica = 60/3 - 20 TB
The available storage depends on total storage capacity of disks / replication factor and not number of nodes.
