Newbie Question VLAN and SSD Journal/Cache

Hello,

I would like to build a PetaSAN cluster of 4 systems. In each of the systems there are 4 Ethernet interfaces (two cards), on each card one interface is used.

My problem is that I want to use a balanced-alb from the ports for the configuration. Above this bond0 each a separate VLAN for S3, NFS, SMB and iSCSI. Where and especially when to enter these VLAN? Subsequent entries are apparently reset to etc0 without warning.

My next problem is that the Intel Optane only has 375GB and so running with journal or cache causes problems. Since it's only going to be backup storage, I'll probably start without caching or journaling.

What is your tip? I need an answer pretty quickly. Thanks!

You can create a bond say bond0 and have all your services use that bond. When you configure your service you will specify the vlan and subnet, so you should put your services on separate vlans and subnets on the same bond0. You can change the vlan and subnets settings dynamically any time from the ui.

Your optane could act as journal for other HDDs or SSDs OSDs. We use a 60 GB partition for journal/db for each OSD being served.
